My father came from a large family of which he and all his brothers worked as managers for Dewhurst, some of whom went on to buy their own butcher’s shops including my father who started his own shop in Stubbington, Hampshire in 1968.
I too have worked all my life in butchery, I started like my father with Dewhurst in 1968 and got my first manager’s job at the age of 18 with Spar supermarket. From there I moved to a meat supervisor’s job for a large supermarket chain (Key Markets). I left them to take over the running of my father’s independent butcher’s shop in Fetcham (Leatherhead) Surrey when he became too ill to run it himself.
I worked for him for a few years until I bought my first shop in 1984 in Gosport, Hampshire. I sold that in 1996 and ran an independent catering butchers, supplying top restaurants/pubs in the New Forest area of Hampshire.
I bought my present shop in Felpham, West Sussex in March 2000.
Since then I have invested a considerable amount of capital, and toil, kitting out my shop in Felpham to enable us to offer a unique service and a wide range of quality products from our shop today.
